The Australian General Practice Network (AGPN) recognises the contribution that nurses can make to general practice and primary care.
We will continue to work closely with the Network and other key stakeholders to provide leadership and advocacy to all nurses working in primary care.
Projects for 2011/2012 include:
- Undertaking the biennial nursing in general practice workforce survey in collaboration with the Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute (APHCRI);
- Promoting and supporting the uptake of the Practice Nurse Incentive Program;
- Developing business cases to support the employment of nurse practitioncers in general practice;
- Developing a framework for the planning, implementation and evaluation of nurse clinics in general practice;
- Developing a framework to support advanced nurse development and sustainability in general practice;
- Ensure nationally consistent general practice orientation and training for nurses; and
- Provide leadership and capacity building for nurses in general practice in collaboration with the SBOs
