The Practice Nurses (PNs) and Aboriginal Health Workers (AHWs) as Domestic Violence Referral Points Project is an initiative of the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) and the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA).
The project aims to increase the participation rate of eligible PNs and AHWs in training to support them in their role as domestic violence referral points. The project is a rural initiative targeted to general practices in regional, rural and remote areas in Australia who are participating in practice incentive payment. This project is one of the two components of the Australian Government's Nursing in General Practice Training and Support Initiative, funded through the Nursing in General Practice (NiGP) program.
The Australian General Practice Network has been contracted by DoHA to provide support to the national roll out of the training program being conducted by Lifeline Australia: Recognise and Respond to Domestic and Family Violence.
Our role includes:
-
Promoting the program to eligible practice nurses and AHWs
-
Providing assistance to Lifeline Australia to recruit eligible participants through the NiGP Program
-
Administering support payments to eligible PNs and AHWs to assist with travel and accommodation costs associated with attending the face-to-face option of the training program provided by Lifeline Australia.
Registrations are now open for training workshops. An online training option is also available.
